And here comes the next edition of TidyTuesday. This week was all about the series The Office. The schrute package, were the data was partially based on, offers all scripts from the writers and I was wondering if also The Office writers have their pet words that they frequently use. I plotted the top10 words for four different writers (writing teams): The script writers from the original British version (Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Greg Daniels), Steve Carell (who plays Michael Scott), Benjamin Novak (who plays Ryan Howard), and Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor in the series).

And, what do we see? While the original script writers use rather general terms, once Steve Carell, Mindy Kaling, and Benjamin Novak take over, it becomes more character-focused. “Michael” and “Dwight” are now among the TOP10 words. Steve Carell likes mentioning his own character (“Michael”) a lot and — as it seems — was also in charge of the birthday episodes. 🥳
